Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s well proven stallion Oratorio had an impressive two-year-old winner at Fairview on Wednesday when daughter Carlita made a stylish winning debut.
Trained by Alan Greeff and ridden to victory by Teaque Gould, the well backed Carlita (she jumped a 21-20 tote favourite) simply pulverized her 11 opponents to score a 8.25 length debut win over 1000 metres.
Bred by the Piemonte Stud, Carlita was a R35 000 bargain buy from the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale.
She holds an entry in the Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes on Sun Met day (as does fellow Oratorio 2yo winner Jephthah).
Her sire Oratorio has made a cracking start with his two-year-olds in 2017-2018, and is also responsible for recent 7.75 length debut winner Van Halen.
To date, this season Oratorio has been represented by four two year old runners, three of whom have won!
Himself a G1 winner at two, Oratorio is no stranger to siring high class two-year-olds, with his best 2yos including G1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Beethoven and New Zealand champion Banchee.
The triple G1 winning son of Danehill has nine lots on offer at the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale –including a half-brother to Listed In Full Flight winner Attenborough (Lot 33), a colt out of G2 Sceptre Stakes winner Reflective Image (Lot 122), a half-brother to top class fillies Cold As Ice and Live Life (Lot170) and a half-sister to G1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge winner King Of Pain (Lot 171).
