Oriental Charm to Drakenstein

10th Feb 2025

Drakenstein Stud is pleased to announce that Oriental Charm will be standing at Drakenstein this season.
A son of outstanding sire Vercingetorix, Oriental Charm has won five of 13 races and has already earned R4,790,624.
The bay’s biggest win, to date, came in the 2024 G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July, where Oriental Charm beat champions Cousin Casey, Royal Victory, Future Pearl, Green With Envy, and Winchester Mansion.
The July is one of three graded wins for Oriental Charm, with the latter having also won the 2024 G2 World Sports Betting Green Point Stakes and G3 Hollywoodbets Dolphins Cup Trial.
Second in the G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met last time out, Oriental Charm has plenty going for him in terms of pedigree.
He is a son of Equus Champion Vercingetorix, South Africa’s Champion Sire elect for 2024-2025.
Among Vercingetorix’s growing list of black type winners this season are G1 Cartier Paddock Stakes winner Double Grand Slam, and graded stakes winners Greaterix, Spumante Dolce, Zeitz, and Rascallion.
Oriental Charm is out of the stakes placed Greys Inn mare Souk, whose dam Tagine is a full-sister to G1 South African Derby winner Bouquet-Garni.
This is the same family as breed shaping sires Danehill, Halo, Machiavellian and Northern Dancer among many others.
Syndicate members will share in the remaining racing career of Oriental Charm.
