Highlands Stud’s resident sire Pathfork was represented by a smart debut winner at Scottsville on Sunday.
His 3yo daughter Via Sacra, bred by Highlands and trained by Dennis Drier, had clearly shown plenty of home with the filly being backed all the way down from 8-1 to jump a 12-10 favourite.
One of four winners on the card for jockey Sean Veale, Via Sacra dug down deep to prevail by a neck over the more experienced Meet The Logans.
She is by no means the only promising sophomore representing her Irish champion sire this season, with Pathfork’s other smart 3yos including debut feature race winner Precious Pansy, G1 contender Holly’s Vision and smart filly Twelve Oaks.
By champion US sire Distorted Humor (sire of the hugely exciting US sire Jimmy Creed), Pathfork has eight lots on offer at this week’s National Two Year Old Sale, including a filly whose dam is a full-sister to G3 winner The Plunderer (Lot 26), a filly out of G3 Magnolia Handicap winner Mighty Doll (Lot 42), a half-brother to Listed Swallow Stakes winner Mambonick (Lot 429), and a colt from the same family as international G1 winners Stravinsky, Rhododendron, Pearl Of Love and Halfway To Heaven (Lot 465).
