Pathfork half-brother stars in G1 feature

Promising two-year-old War Of Will, a half-brother to Irish champion Pathfork (standing this season at the Sandown Stud), stamped himself as a horse to follow when he finished second in the G1 Summer Stakes at Woodbine on Sunday.

The Gary Barber owned two-year-old tracked in second throughout Sunday’s, took command and tried to spurt away from the even-money favorite but yielded late and finished three-quarters of a length behind Fog of War.

Pathfork’s Mighty High

Now placed in both starts, War Of Will (by War Front) is out of the stakes winning Sadler’s Wells mare Visions Of Clarity (whose wins included the Listed Prix de Bagatelle).

The latter is best known as the dam of G1 boylesports.com Vincent O’Brien National Stakes winner, and successful sire, Pathfork, as well as short-lived Birdstone Stakes winner Tacticus.

Visions Of Clarity is a half-sister to G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Spinning World (sire of champion sire Thorn Park, and her G1 placed dam Imperfect Circle (runner up in the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes) is a half-sister to multiple G1 winner, and outstanding producer, Chimes Of Freedom and multiple G1 winner Denon.

This family is responsible for recent $2.4 million War Front colt out of G1 Starlet Stakes winner Streaming.

A son of US champion sire Distorted Humor, Pathfork (himself unbeaten at two) enjoyed great success last season when his representatives included the unbeaten G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner Mighty High and East Cape champion Madame Speaker. The latter won or placed in all seven starts at two, and won all of the Listed Champion Juvenile Cup, Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes, and Listed East Cape Nursery.
