Promising filly’s “Ideal” debut

4th Jun 2018

Mauritzfontein’s sizzling sire Ideal World continues to make his presence felt, and the son of Kingmambo had another memorable South African double over the weekend.
Star of the Ideal World double was two-year-old filly Helen’s Ideal, who went into a few notebooks when storming home on debut on Saturday.

Bred by Peter de Beyer, Helen’s Ideal defied a slow start when romping home to a 4.75 length debut win over 1200m –and she looks a well above average filly.

The two-year-old, who was produced by the Fort Wood mare Tequila Blush, is a ¾ sister to Ideal World sired G3 Track And Ball Oaks winner Zante.

Helen’s Ideal was one of two weekend winners for her sire, with Ideal World also sire of Friday’s maiden winner Fanfare. The latter, a half-sister to July winner Heavy Metal, dug down deep to score a neck win over 1400m for trainer Gavin Smith.

Ideal World, whose other notable performers include Equus Champions Hermoso Mundo and Smart Call, has been enjoying a wonderful season in 2017-2018. His stars this season include unbeaten G3 Winter Guineas/G3 Winter Classic winner Rainbow Bridge, Guineas winner Luna Child, G2 WSB 1900 runner up Dark Moon Rising, and G3 Strelitzia Stakes winner Inverroche.

Ideal World, whose son Cape Speed is a runner in Saturday’s G3 Cup Trial, has seven lots on offer at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale, including a full-brother to Inverroche (Lot 252).
