Maine Chance Farms’ inform resident stallion Querari came up with his 21st individual stakes winner when his promising two-year-old daughter Herrin won the Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes (1400m) at Fairview on Friday afternoon.
Under jockey Charles Ndlovu, the Alan Greeff trained Herrin made it win number two, from just six starts, when running out a facile three and a half length winner of Friday’s two-year-old feature.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Herrin had been third in the Listed East Cape Nursery at her previous start.
A R110 000 buy from the 2019 National 2YO Sale, Herrin is out of the Fort Wood mare Erin.
She is the second Querari filly in a row to have won the Lady’s Slipper, with the sire’s Lunar Wish having captured the 2019 Lady’s Slipper Stakes.
Querari, South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs last season, has another fine crop of two-year-olds this season, with his 12 local two-year-old winners thus far including not only Herrin but also the impressive debut winners Hyde Park and Invincabelle, and G3 Strelitzia Stakes runner up Slalom Queen.
