Rafeef brother to star at Easter Sale

24th Jan 2018

Highlands Stud part of Ridgemont’s exciting young stallion Rafeef has a full brother on offer at the 2018 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

Lot 259 is a bay son of champion sire Redoute’s Choice and former South African Horse Of The Year National Colour (by National Assembly).

Redoute’s Choice

This makes him a full brother to not only G1 winning sire Rafeef, but also to the unbeaten Equus Champion 2YO Colt of 2016-2017, Mustaaqeem. The latter won his only two starts as a juvenile by an aggregate of 11.5 lengths, with his wins including the G1 SA Nursery.

His full brother Rafeef, whose eagerly awaited first crop of foals arrive in 2018, was a top class racehorse who won six of his ten outings and banked over R1.1 million in prize money.

He won the G1 Computaform Sprint, over champions Talktothestars and Carry On Alice, over 1000m and also landed the G2 Hawaii Stakes over 1400m. When victorious in the 2017 Hawaii Stakes, Rafeef accounted for eight graded stakes winners including champion French Navy, and the likes of New Predator, Fort Ember and Kangaroo Jack.

To date, National Colour has been responsible for three winners, from just four runners, with her progeny fetching up to AUS$1 750 000 in the sales ring.

National Colour

Her half-sister Zemfira had a Soft Falling Rain (by National Assembly) colt make R800 000 at the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale recently.

The Easter Sale takes from the 9th to 11 of April in Sydney.
