Ridgemont’s G1 Computaform Sprint winning stallion Rafeef made waves on the first day of the 2025 National Yearling Sale, which took place at the TBA Complex on Thursday.
His son October Rush was the top lot sold at Thursday’s session.
Consigned to the sale by Avontuur Estate, October Rush (Lot 197) was knocked down to Form Bloodstock for R4.25 million.
A colt with a stallion’s pedigree, October Rush, who is bred on the potent Rafeef/Var cross, is a half-brother to six winners, notably Tempting Fate, Equus Champion 2YO Colt of 2019-2020, and G1 South African Fillies Sprint winner October Morn.
October Rush is out of the well performed Var mare Miss October, a full-sister to G1 Mercury Sprint winner August Rush and winner of five races including the G3 Tommy Hotspur Handicap.
Two other Rafeef colts, Waiting Game (Lot 136) and Haute Couture (Lot 141), made R2 200 000 and R2 100 000 respectively on Thursday.
In short, Rafeef had four yearlings make R1 000 000 plus on Thursday. The son of Redoute’s Choice ended the session having 16 lots sell for an aggregate of R16.05 million.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2020-2021, Rafeef is having another stellar season this year with his flagbearers including such graded stakes winners as Chasing Happiness, Mon Petit Cherie, Outlaw King and G1 TAB Computaform Sprint winner William Robertson.
