Ridgemont’s G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire Rafeef looks to have come up with a very smart sort in the form of Easy Tiger.
The latter made it two wins from two starts when she won at Turffontein on Saturday.
Trained, like her sire, by Mike de Kock, two-year-old Easy Tiger came into Saturday’s 4Racing Welcomes You Juvenile Plate (1000m) off a two and a quarter length debut win.
The Rafeef duly made it two out of two with a fluent performance on Saturday.
Under Richard Fourie, Easy Tiger ran on strongly to beat fellow Rafeef filly, Glastonbury, by three-parts of a length.
Bred and owned by Ridgemont (owned in partnership with Devin Heffer), Easy Tiger is out of the Where’s That Tiger mare Tiger’s Touch.
Easy Tiger was one of three winners for Rafeef on Saturday, with the latter’s offspring Mountain High and Golden Destiny winning at Turffontein and Hollywoodbets Kenilworth respectively.
Three-year-old Golden Destiny made it back to back wins when he won the Summer Country Championship 1200 Final on Saturday.
The Dean Kannemeyer trained gelding swooped late, under Craig Zackey, before going on to win a shade cosily by just under half a length. The lightly raced Golden Destiny, who was bred by Narrow Creek Stud, has won three of just nine starts, with the gelding having won three of his last five outings.
Consistent three-year-old Mountain High got off the mark when she won Saturday’s www.tab4racing.com Maiden Plate (1600m) for Sean Tarry and Gavin Lerena. The daughter of Rafeef, who was bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, is out of the Master Of My Fate mare Oh Mercy Me.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2020-2021, Rafeef has a single lot on offer at the Cape Yearling Sale, and 17 lots on offer at the Premier Yearling Sale.
