Klawervlei Stud’s exciting stallion Twice Over has made a brilliant start to his stud career, and the European champion’s family have also been in bright form over the past few weeks.
Twice Over, whose close relative Patch contested the G1 Stephen Foster Handicap at Churchill Downs on Saturday, is from the same family as an unbeaten two-year-old who heads to Royal Ascot this week.
Junius Brutus, who has won his only two starts by an aggregate of 11.5 lengths, holds entries in a number of major Ascot features this week –among them the G2 Norfolk Stakes and Windsor Castle Stakes.
The colt is out of the Beat Hollow mare Tricked, who is a half-sister to Twice Over himself.
This is also the family of G1 winners Passage Of Time and Timepiece, as well as the National Stud’s new sire Time Test and 2018 Investec Blue Riband Trial winner Crossed Baton, with the latter holding an entry for the G3 Hampton Court Stakes on Thursday.
Twice Over, whose 12 wins included back to back runnings of the G1 Champion Stakes, has made a great start with his first crop yielding such as G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion winner Sand And Sea, Guineas winner and July hope Do It Again, and G3 winner Doublemint. The latter is one of two sons of Twice Over to hold an entry in the G3 Winter Derby to be run at Kenilworth on June 30th.
Another smart performer from Twice Over’s first crop is G1 Garden Province Stakes entrant Twice As Smart.
