Mauritzfontein’s exciting young stallion Byword was represented by a second first crop winner when his 2yo daughter No More Words justified 6-10 favouritism to score a half-length win over 1200m at Turffontein on Sunday.
Bred by the Tawny Syndicate, No More Words was not winning out of turn having previously finished a short head second to impressive debut winner Mrs O.
Trained by Robbie Sage, No Words is out of the Toreador mare Adella.
She is the second winner for her G1 winning sire Byword, following Talk Wrench, who scored a gutsy win over 1000m a few weeks ago.
An outstanding racehorse, Byword won seven races during his career, including the G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot, and was second in the G1 Prix d’Ispahan and third in the G1 Juddmonte International.
The well related Byword is a half-brother to four time G1 winner Proviso and current smart French 3yo Finche, third in the recent Listed Prix Ridgway and an entrant in the G1 Grand Prix de Paris.
