Moutonshoek’s regally bred young sire The United States came up with an eye catching second first crop winner on Tuesday.
His two-year-old daugher Alabama Anna, making just her second start, caught the eye when romping home to win the third race at the Vaal in facile fashion.
Sixth on her only previous start, the Lucky Houdalakis trained filly was always up with the pace in Tuesday’s TAB Telebet 0861 000 822 Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies), and when Craig Zackey asked the question, Alabama Anna pulled clear to win by three and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Moutonshoek, Alabama Anna is out of the Hawk Wing mare Love Unlimited.
Her G1 Ranvet Stakes winning sire The United States made a breathtaking start to his stud career when his very first runner, Sheela, captured both the Listed Storm Bird Stakes and G2 4Racing SA Nursery.
To date, Sheela (also third in the G1 Allan Robertson Championship) has won three of just four starts.
