Silvano filly impresses on debut

20th Feb 2017

Maine Chance Farms’ resident sire Silvano, currently South Africa’s second leading sire by stakes, had an eye catching debut winner at Turffontein on Saturday.
The Ascot Stud bred Simply Royal romped to an 3.5 length win over 1200m-despite bursting through the starting stalls and having to jump from a wide barrier draw of eleven.

Owned by Al Adaayit South Africa, Simply Royal was a R2.7 million buy from the 2015 National Yearling Sale, where she was the fourth top lot sold.

Out of G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Royal Fantasy, Simply Royal is bred on the same Silvano/Al Mufti cross as champions Bold Silvano and Kings Gambit, as well as the high class stakes horses Balance Sheet,  Epona, Gallica Rose, Galanthus, and Mr Winsome –to name but a few.

Simply Royal is the latest impressive winner to have emerged from Silvano’s current crop of 3yos,  a crop which is also responsible for stakes winners Epona, Janoobi, Palladium and G2 Gauteng Guineas/Fillies Guineas entrant Orchid Island.

Champion sire in South Africa in 2012-2013, Silvano has once again enjoyed a hugely successful season in 2016-2017, where his major runners include G1 Klawervlei Majorca 1-2 finishers Nightingale and Star Express, and graded winners Girl On The Run and Nebula.

His G1 World Sports Cape Fillies Guineas winning daughter Silver Mountain will represent Silvano in Saturday’s G3 Prix Du Cap at Kenilworth,  while Silvano’s G3 Betting World Algoa Cup winner Nebula is a runner in the same day’s Cape Mile (non Black Type).
