Slipper glory for Philanthropist

26th Mar 2018

Drakenstein Stud’s bang in-form sire Philanthropist enjoyed yet more feature race success this weekend.
The son of Kris S had a most impressive feature race winner when his daughter Raven Girl romped to a three length victory in the Listed Silver Slipper, run over 1800m at Borrowdale Park on Sunday.
Trained by Bridget Stidolph, Raven Girl simply outclassed her rivals as she drew clear to post an effortless first feature race win of her career.

Singapore Sling

Bred by the Drakenstein Stud, the 3yo filly had previously finished a short head second in the Fillies Classic.

Philanthropist was also responsible for another eye catching winner over the weekend in the form Amajory. The latter  romped to a 2.2 length win over 1000m at the Vaal on Saturday.

From the yard of Paul Peter, the 3yo filly was too good for her rivals and romped home to register her second career victory. Bred by the Rosedene Stud, Amajory was an R180 000 buy from the 2016 March Yearling Sale.

North America’s Leading All Weather Sire in 2014, Philanthropist has been in the news of late thanks to the deeds of his top class son Singapore Sling.

She’s A Giver

Bred by Drakenstein Stud, Singapore Sling took his earnings to over R19 million when he ran second in the recent BMW Hong Kong Derby. The talented gelding had previously run second in the Hong Kong Classic Mile before claiming victory in the Hong Kong Classic Cup. The Tony Millard trained four-year-old holds an entry in the G1 Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup, which is due to take place at Sha Tin on April 29th.

Philanthropist, himself a half-brother to graded winners Defer and Reload, has 14 yearlings on offer at the 2018 April Yearling Sale, and a further 13 yearlings on the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
