The Cape Breeders’ Club’s annual stallion services auction, which took place at Highlands Farm on Friday evening, once again proved a rousing success.
The club, which annually offers services to the Cape’s top and most exciting young sires, once again raised a tremendous amount which will be used for a number of functions during the coming year, primarily to further build on future education programmes for grooms and stud workers.
A service to champion sire Silvano topped proceedings on Friday night, with Mayfair Speculators going to R425 000 for a service to the Maine Chance Farms based stallion.
Dynasty is always popular and a service to this fully booked champion was also knocked down to Mayfair Speculators –this time for R325 000.
Hot young sires Gimmethegreenlight, Querari and What A Winter all proved massively popular with services to them being knocked down for considerably more than their own service fees.
A big thank you must go out to all those who supported the auction, both breeders and buyers, and may you all enjoy success with your services purchased.
The 2017 Stallion Service Auction was a most enjoyable evening and memorable occasion. Bring on 2018!
