Stylish winning debut for Rafeef relative

4th Dec 2017

Highlands Stud’s blue blooded new sire Rafeef had a handsome update to his pedigree when a close relative of the young sire made a winning debut over the weekend.

National Colour

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Colour Of Light won first time out  at Turffontein on Saturday afternoon.
The 3yo filly, who is from the yard of champion trainer Sean Tarry, dug down deep to catch favourite Tia in the dying stages of the 1160m maiden plate and win first time out.

A daughter of Seventh Rock, Colour Of Light was a R180 000 buy from the 2016 March Yearling Sale.

Her dam Silver Candle is a winning Al Mufti half-sister to Horse Of The Year and multiple G1 winner National Colour.
The latter made headlines last season when her sons Mustaaqeem (SA Nursery) and Rafeef (Computaform Sprint) won G1 races on the same day.

A son of triple champion sire Redoute’s Choice (sire of Australian champion sire Snitzel), Rafeef won six of just ten outings including the G1 Computaform Sprint and G2 Hawaii Stakes.

Rafeef, who accounted for subsequent Equus Champion Sprinter Carry On Alice when triumphant in the R1 000 000 Computaform Sprint, has just completed a successful first season at Highlands Stud.
