Super Sunday for Gimmethegreenlight

28th Nov 2022

Fresh off supplying Saturday’s impressive G2 Betway Ipi Tombe Challenge winner Gimme A Shot, Varsfontein Stud’s inform champion sire Gimmethegreenlight was at it again the following day.
Not only did Gimmethegreenlight come up with a hugely impressive two-year-old winner at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Sunday, but the ever reliable son of More Than Ready was also responsible for the top-lot sold off Sunday’s November Two Year Old Sale.
Gimmethegreenlight colt Gimmelightning made the perfect start to his racing career when he ran out an impressive winner of Sunday’s Bet With Tab Maiden Juvenile Plate (900m) at Kenilworth.
Trained, like his sire, by Justin Snaith, Gimmelightning, given a patient ride by Grant Van Niekerk, came from well off the pace to get up close home and win going away by three-parts of a length.
The winning rider described Gimmelightning as “a smashing horse, and a horse for the future, for sure. He is a horse I would really like to stick with.”
Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, two-year-old Gimmelightning is out of the Jet Master mare Berlinetta and is thus bred on the same Gimmethegreenlight/Jet Master cross as graded stakes winners Green Plains, La Bella Mia, One Night In Paris, and Universal.
Gimmethegreenlight also made headlines at Sunday’s November Two Year Old Sale when his unnamed daughter (Lot 172) made R1 200 000 to top the 2022 November Sale.
Consigned by Sandown Stud, Agent for Shadwell SA, the Gimmethegreenlight filly was sold to Pound Bloodstock.
Closely related to the Gimmethegreenlight sired stakes winners Hack Green and Favorita, the sales topping filly is out of G3 Fillies Mile winner Ghaalla.
