Varsfontein Stud’s home bred stallion Erik The Red came up with his third winner on Saturday.
Erik The Red colt King Harald made a big impression when he made a winning debut at Turffontein on Saturday.
Trained by Roy Magner, King Harald stormed home, under Gavin Lerena, to land the 4Racing Welcomes You Juvenile Plate (1160m) by just over a length and a quarter.
It was a smart debut performance, with King Harald accounting for previous winners Arashi and Crystal Grove among others.
Bred by Varsfontein, King Harald is out of the Caesour mare Imperial State.
The colt was a R675 000 purchase from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.
He joins Polar Light and Tenjiku for early winners for his sire, with Erik The Red also the sire of Listed TAB Storm Bird Stakes third place finisher Reigning Alice.
Erik The Red has 18 lots on offer at the Premier Yearling Sale, and a further 18 lots on the National Yearling Sale.
