Thursday double for champion sire

1st Dec 2017

Drakenstein Stud’s in-form champion sire Trippi, fresh off enjoying a quartet of winners in South Africa last weekend, was again to the fore at Kenilworth on Thursday.

Trippi

The son of End Sweep had a pair of eye catching winners at the Cape meeting, where his Drakenstein Stud bred son Milden Spell romped to a three length maiden win (beating the well bred sorts Afdeek and Power Of Peace over 1400m), and his Tripple H Trust bred Tripple Explosion scored for a second time in his past five outings.

Lightly raced Milden Spell, making his comeback after an 11 month layoff, is trained by Justin Snaith, who also trains Trippi’s emerging star daughter Miss Katalin, while Tripple Explosion shares his trainer Glen Kotzen with Trippi’s G2 Selangor Cup winning son Gold Standard.

Gold Standard

Champion Sire in South Africa in 2015-2016, Trippi has some top class 3yos representing this season, headed by big sales race winners Miss Katalin (Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes) and Broadway Trip (BSA August Million).
Other exciting sophomore prospects for the champion this season include G2 Selangor Cup runner up White River, impressive debut winner Sugar Girl and classic contender Cot Campbell.

The sire of 68 stakes winners, Trippi is currently South Africa’s Leading Sire of 3YOs by Stakes Money (stats according to Sporting Post). He has already headed the Leading Sire of 3yos twice and looks on course to record a third title.

An increasingly successful broodmare sire, Trippi is already damsire of top exciting sire prospects standing in Kentucky.
He is damsire of both the regally bred G1 Woodward Stakes/G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner Liam’s Map, who stands at Lane’s End Farm, and G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile runner up Not This Time. The latter, who won the G3 Iroquois Stakes by 8.75 lengths, stands at Taylor Made Farms.
