Thursday double for Elusive Fort

26th Jun 2020

Former Equus champion Elusive Fort, whose progeny have been firing on all cylinders this season, had another good day at the Vaal on Thursday with Elusive Fort runners landing Thursday’s third and seventh races respectively.

The champion son of Fort Wood went close to having a treble on Thursday, with Elusive Fort gelding Russian Beat finishing second in the Vaal’s sixth race.

Elusive Fort’s three-year-old gelded son Hold Your Horses got off the mark in convincing style when he romped home to break his maiden by a length and a half over 1600m.
Trained by Gerald Walker, the Stone Hill Stud bred Hold Your Horses had been second over 1600m two starts prior to Thursday’s win.

Hold Your Horses’ paternal half-sister Now You See Me provided Elusive Fort with his second success on the card when the four-year-old Ambiance Stud bred filly won Thursday’s seventh race, a MR 92 divided handicap (1600m), by three-parts of a length.

Trained by Fabian Habib (who also trains her sire’s G1 winner Out Of Your League), Now You See Me has now won four times.

Triple G1 winner Elusive Fort, whose progeny include the likes of recent SA Derby winner Out Of Your League and Klawervlei Farm Sale Graduate Race Kommetdieding, has five lots on offer at the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
