The Klipdrif Stud based Equus Champion Elusive Fort had a 100% success rate at Turffontein’s inside track on Thursday, when both his runners won their respective races.
The Elusive Fort sired Fact made it win number three when scoring a comfortable 1.4 length win over 2600m, when scoring for trainer Weiho Marwing and jockey Marco Van Rensburg
Bred by Connemara Stud, the four-year-old Fact has been the soul of consistency of late, with the gelding having won or been in the money in six of his last seven starts.
Elusive Fort’s second winner on Thursday came when his gelded 3yo son Segontium justified tote favouritism when breaking his maiden by 1.25 lengths over 1450 metres.
Bred by Dr Ian Heyns, Segontium is out of the Kahal mare La Mascarata, and is thus bred on the same Elusive Fort/Kahal cross as multiple graded stakes winner and former G1 Gauteng Sansui Summer Cup runner up Fort Ember.
A triple G1 winning son of champion sire Fort Wood, Elusive Fort is a proven sire whose best performers include the G1 winners Siren’s Call and Lauderdale, R2 million plus earner Safe Harbour, and the graded stakes winners Fort Ember, Secret Potion and Freedom Charter.
