A colt from the same family as The Alchemy’s resident sire Where’s That Tiger made waves on the second day of the 2018 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale yesterday.
The Scat Daddy colt, consigned by Mocklershill as lot 155, fetched 775 000 guineas to end the sale as the third top lot sold.
He was sold to Jamie McCalmont, in partnership with MV Magnier, who said after the sale, “This is the final crop of a stallion who has got just better and better. He’s got two of the best three-year-olds in the world right now. He’s a stallion that can do anything, he really is incredible.”
The Scat Daddy colt was produced by the unraced Medaglia D’Oro mare Lauded, whose dam Bless is a full-sister to the dam of Where’s That Tiger.
This is the same family as US classic winners Fusaichi Pegasus and Pine Bluff.
A son of multiple champion sire Storm Cat, and runner up in the G3 UAE 2000 Guineas, Where’s That Tiger (whose first South African crop is now two) has made his mark in this country, from a small number of runners, through such stakes winners as Tiger’s Touch, Tiger Quest, and Supertube.
His first local crop include five runners who have won or placed, headed by impressive debut winner Temp The Tiger.
Where’s That Tiger has two fillies on next week’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale –a chestnut filly whose dam is a half-sister to the stakes winning dam of top filly Silver Thursday (Lot 506), and a filly whose dam is an own sister to Derby winner Winter Weather (Lot 507).
