A daughter of champion sire Trippi set a new record price for a Klawervlei Farm Sale, when fetching R1.5 million at the Farm Sale on Saturday.

Catalogued as lot 48, the filly was knocked down to Varsfontein Stud. As yet unnamed, she is out of the winning Fort Wood mare Pagan Princess and is thus a full-sister to G1 South African Fillies Sprint winner Real Princess, and ½ sister to G1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas winner and new Klawervlei sire William Longsword.
Trippi proved in great demand at the 2017 Klawervlei Farm Sale, with another colt by the sire fetching R1 000 000, and another filly making R600 000.
A son of End Sweep, Trippi has enjoyed another tremendous season in 2016-2017, with his runners this season including G1 Premier’s Champions Challenge winner Deo Juvente (who has banked more than R3.5 million in prize money), star filly Live Life, G2 Selangor Cup winner Gold Standard and recent G1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge runner up Trip To Heaven.
Trippi, whose progeny have earned more than $57 million in prize money, was also popular at Friday night’s Cape Breeders’ Club Stallion Service Auction, where a service to last season’s champion sire was knocked down to Chris Van Niekerk for R375 000.
