Trippi progeny making news the world over

10th Mar 2017

Drakenstein Stud’s resident sire Trippi was back in the news this week.

His outstanding son Trip To Heaven received international recognition when LONGINES World’s Best Racehorses gave him a rating of 118, a rating which makes the Highlands Farms Stud bred gelding just 1lb inferior to the world’s best sprinters.

Unlucky when demoted from first in last year’s G1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge, Trip To Heaven has won three of his last four outings, with his recent wins including a repeat win in the G2 The Citizen Merchants and a sparkling 3.75 length romp in the G2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes.

Another of Trippi’s top class offspring in the news recently is his outstanding daughter Miss Macy Sue, who recently produced a filly by triple US champion sire Tapit.
Miss Macy Sue, who is due to return to Tapit in 2017, was a top class race mare, who earned more than $800 000 in stakes and who ran third in the 2007 Breeders’ Cup F&M Sprint.

At stud, Miss Macy Sue has proven even more successful, with her offspring including dual G1 winner Liam’s Map, unlucky G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile runner up Not This Time and stakes winner Taylor S.

Both Liam’s Map and Not This Time are now at stud in Kentucky.

Sire of Miss Macy Sue, Trippi has a single lot on offer at next weekend’s March Yearling Sale –a filly out of a four time winning daughter of champion sire Western Winter and G1 winner As Ever (Lot 155).
