Trippi star maintains his unbeaten record

28th Nov 2022

Drakenstein Stud’s veteran champion sire Trippi is enjoying another magnificent season in 2022-2023, and the son of End Sweep looks to have produced a real star in the form of unbeaten three-year-olds Charles Dickens.

An impressive winner of the G3 Cape Classic last time out, three-year-old Charles Dickens made it five wins from five starts with a fluent win at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth to confirm himself as arguably the leading contender for the upcoming G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas.
The Candice Bass-Robinson trained chestnut was all the rage for Sunday’s www.caperacing.co.za Allowance Plate (1400m) with Charles Dickens eventually starting a warm tote favourite.
Under regular rider Aldo Domeyer, the handsome colt sauntered into the lead 200m from home and was allowed to coast home under a confident ride from Domeyer.
Charles Dickens powered away to down former G1 Cape Racing Presents Cape Guineas winner Russian Rock by three lengths and he could hardly have been more impressive!
Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Charles Dickens looks poised to build on his latest success, with the classy colt’s four previous victories including last season’s Listed TAB Somerset 1200.
Charles Dickens, who is out of the Dynasty sired G2 Ipi Tombe Challenge winner Demanding Lady, is a full-brother to both G1Gbets Cape Derby runner up Charles and this season’s Listed Hollywoodbets Settlers Trophy winner Somerset Maugham.

He is one of 89 stakes winners for Trippi thus far, with Trippi named South Africa’s Champion Sire in 2015-2016.
