Trippi winners impress at Turffontein

16th Oct 2017

Drakenstein Stud’s resident sire Trippi, South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016, was responsible for a pair of very impressive winners this past weekend at Turffontein.

Broadway Trip

His daughter Flowersfromabrook produced an impressive turn of foot to make a winning debut over 1000 metres for trainer Weiho Marwing.

The beautifully bred three-year-old, who flew up late to post a one length win on debut, was a R425 000 buy from the 2016 Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale and she looks a smart sort in the making.

Just a few races later, Trippi’s exciting son Broadway Trip, winner of the BSA August Million earlier this year, maintained his unbeaten record when landing a progress plate over 1450 metres. Bred by Moutonshoek, Broadway Trip ran on powerfully to score in the dying stages of the race, and accounted for such highly regarded sorts as Flying Free, Warrior’s Rest and Sea King to name a few.

Trained by Alec Laird, Broadway Trip, who has now won three times from as many outings, has now banked over R750 000 in prize money and he looks an exciting future prospect for the upcoming 3yo feature races.

Inara

Flowersfromabrook and Broadway Trip are just two of several promising 3yos representing Trippi this year, with others including the highly rated Cot Campbell and Fillies Championship entrant Miss Katalin.

The sire of 67 stakes winners, including G1 winners R Heat Lightning, Inara, Deo Juvente, Afrikaburn, Real Princess, and For The Lads, Trippi has three two-year-olds on the upcoming CTS Ready To Run Sale.
