Ascot Stud’s resident stallion Global View had a good day on Tuesday when the son of Galileo supplied a pair of winners at the Vaal.
Global View struck first on Tuesday when his son Southern Blaze ran out a convincing winner of the eighth race, under a well judged ride from Philsande Mxoli.
The Stuart Pettigrew trained four-year-old hit the front 150m from home and kept galloping strongly to win Tuesday’s Racing240 For Racing. For You MR 88 Handicap (1450m) by a length and a quarter.
Bred by Wicklow Stud, Southern Blaze has now won three times with the gelding having finished second or third in each of his three races prior to Tuesday’s win.
He is out of the Parade Leader mare Southern Dixie.
Global View ended Tuesday in style when his Grant Maroun trained son Global Breeze won the tenth and final race on the card.
Under Philsande Mxoli, Global Breeze powered home down the inside of the track and stayed on strongly to land the Next Vaal Racemeeting Thursday 2 February MR 66 Handicap (2000m).
The three-year-old kept going to hold off a strong late challenge from older rival Oyster King and score by three-parts of a length.
Bred by Ascot Stud, Global Breeze was winning for a second time in his career on Tuesday.
