Two out of two for Querari

15th Dec 2017

Maine Chance Farms red-hot sire Querari, whose son Wonderwall contests Saturday’s G1 Forus Cape Guineas, had a 100% strike rate at the Vaal on Thursday, when his only two runners for the day both won.

Querari Falcon

First of the Querari runners to score yesterday was the Clinton Binda trained Wellspring, who got up in the shadow of the post to justify favouritism in a handicap over 1000m.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, the 4yo Wellspring was winning for a second time, with both his victories coming over 1000m. Wellspring, produced by the Woodman mare Woodstock Inn, is a full brother to multiple winner Wedgwood.

Querari was also responsible for Thursday’s 11th race winner Side Show, who scored for champion trainer Sean Tarry over 1700m.

Both Querari winners were steered to victory by the Avontuur sponsored Lyle Hewitson.

Quasillo

The G1 winning Querari, whose half-brother Quasillo has enjoyed a successful first season at Klipdrif Stud this year, has enjoyed another memorable season in 2017-2018, with his runners including G2 Joburg Spring Challenge winner Wonderwall and G2 Investec Dingaans hero Monks Hood.  Querari daughter Hoist The Mast went close to giving her hot young sire yet another big race win when beaten a short head by champion Just Sensual in the recent G2 SW Security Solutions Southern Cross Stakes.

A son of Oasis Dream, Querari has 13 lots on offer at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
