Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s leading sire Var, sire of, among others, recent G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner Vardy, looks to have yet another bright prospect on his hands in the form of promising two-year-old filly Miracle Flight.
The latter made it three wins from as many starts when bolting up over 1000m at the Vaal on Thursday afternoon.
Bred by the Eenfontein Stud, the Paul Peter trained Miracle Flight justified 1-3 favouritism with an authorative 1.1 length win under Warren Kennedy on Thursday.
Out of the Jet Master mare Lightning Bird, Miracle Flight is bred on the same Var/Jet Master cross as the aforementioned Vardy and G3 Lebelo Sprint winner Rivarine.
She is one of only two juvenile runners this season thus far for Var –South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2Yos (by stakes) in both 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.
The sire of more than 90 stakes horses thus far, Var enjoyed success at Thursday’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale where his colt out of Pan Amm made R650 000.
