Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s inform sire Var has some very exciting two-year-olds to his name this season, and he came up with another smart juvenile winner on Thursday.
Var’s Varsfontein Stud bred two-year-old daughter Anything Goes made a big impression when winning first time out over 1450m at Turffontein on Thursday.
Trained by Stuart Pettigrew, and ridden by Diego De Gouveia, Anything Goes pulled clear to win by one and a half lengths in the style of a filly with a bright future.
A half-sister to this season’s G3 Sea Cottage Stakes winner Green Laser, Anything Goes was a R275 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
Out of the Parade Leader mare Dance Domain, Anything Goes has a Gimmethegreenlight half-brother on offer at this year’s National Sale.
Her G1 winning sire Var is also responsible for this season’s exciting 2yos Delta Queen (an unbeaten winner of the G3 Capetown Noir Kenilworth Fillies Nursery), Miracle Flight (winner of her first three races in a row and third in the Listed Ruffian Stakes), and recent debut winner Remus.
South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in both 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, Var is once again leading the Leading Sires of 2YOs List.
