Maine Chance Farm’s exciting young stallion Vercingetorix has made a superb start to the 2019-2020 racing season, and the former Equus Champion was at it again at the Vaal on Thursday.
His first crop, newly turned three-year-old daughter Wisteria Walk put up a stunning display on debut, when that Lucky Houdalakis trained filly romped to a ten length win first time out.
Dispatched a 21-10 tote favourite for a workriders maiden plate over 1200m, Wisteria Walk simply strolled home while putting daylight between herself and her outmatched rivals.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, and out of the Fort Wood mare Wooden Doll, Wisteria Walk was a R350 000 buy from the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Thursday’s impressive debut winner was the 17th winner to have emerged from Vercingetorix’s stellar first crop which also includes G2 Haval Motors South Africa Umkhomazi Stakes winner African Warrior (who has banked over R1 000 000 in prize money), unbeaten East Cape Nursery hero Viking Moon, G3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery second Fearless Warrior and Dahlia Plate victor Hooves Of Troy.
Since the 1st of August, Vercingetorix has been responsible for four winners, including the aforementioned Wisteria Walk and smart debut winner Cherry Road.
One of the most exciting young stallions currently standing in South Africa, the son of Silvano (South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2018-2019) has 16 lots on offer at the 2019 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale.
