Visionaire ¾ brother impresses in North America

7th December 2018

Lammerskraal Stud’s red hot sire Visionaire received yet another handsome update to his impressive female line when his two-year-old three-parts Philosophy scorched to a 5.75 length win over five and a half furlongs at the Fair Grounds on Thursday.

Off at odds of 9-2 here, he broke sharply from post 11 and was hustled to the front by Shaun Bridgmohan. He showed the way through fractions of :22.36 and :46.72, and took off nicely in the stretch to stamp himself as one to watch en route to a 5 3/4-length decision.

It was just a second start for the Mark Casse trained two-year-old, with Philosophy having finished third on debut.

Both Visionaire and Philosophy were sired by sons of Gone West, with Visionaire a son of Grand Slam and Philosophy by Speightstown.

Their dam is the outstanding French Deputy mare Scarlet Tango, who won four times and ran second in the Laura Gal Stakes.

Not only is she dam of G1 King’s Bishop Stakes winner Visionaire, but Scarlet Tango is also dam of the graded stakes winners Tara’s Tango (G1 Santa Margarita Stakes), Scarlet Strike (G3 Providencia Stakes) and Madison’s Luna (G3 Hutcheson Stakes).

Her Lammerskraal Stud based son Visionaire has been in great form this season thus far, with Visionaire’s winners including the likes of Africa Rising (G2 The Goldrush Derby Run Merchants), Takingthepeace (G3 Victory Moon Stakes) and Vi Va Pi Pa (Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup).

A former Leading First and Second Crop Sire, Visionaire has a trio of yearlings on offer at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
