Weekend double for Master Of My Fate

25th Jun 2018

Varsfontein Stud’s hugely promising young stallion Master Of My Fate continued to enjoy good success over the weekend, with the son of Jet Master responsible for a pair of smart looking first crop winners.
In the process, the handsome bay took his tally of first crop winners to seven –making Master Of My Fate the country’s Leading First Crop Sire by individual winners.

Twist Of Fate

Master Of My Fate’s first winner came at Kenilworth’s rain shortened meeting on Saturday, when his Boland Stud bred daughter Kawakami broke her maiden over 1400m for trainer Justin Snaith and jockey Grant Van Niekerk.

Kawakami, who was produced by the Jallad mare Miss Kiri, showed huge courage in getting up close home, in appalling conditions, to win by a head going away.

The two-year-old, a half-sister to East Cape Fillies Nursery winner The Merry Widow, was a R200 000 buy from last year’s National Yearling Sale.

Master Of My Fate’s second winner of the weekend came when the Oldlands Stud bred Gift For The Gap broke his maiden over 1800m at Turffontein on Sunday.
The colt, who had been third and fourth at his two previous outings, gave trainer Tyrone Zackey a memorable birthday present when saluting by a neck over 3yo Rock Of Gibraltar son Limestone Mass in Sunday’s race.

Gift For The Gap, a seventh winner for Master Of My Fate, was produced by the Fort Wood mare Idler.

The 2yo colt was a R200 000 buy from the 2017 National Yearling Sale.

His G2 Premier Trophy/G2 Peninsula Handicap winning sire has made a tremendous start to his stud career.
Thus far, Master Of My Fate’s tally of winners include impressive Listed Somerset 1200 winner Twist Of Fate, G1 Gold Medallion fourth Goliath Heron, and debut winner Masta Keys.

A son of seven times champion sire Jet Master and Equus Champion Promisefrommyheart, Master Of My Fate’s half-sister My Guiding Star is dam of unbeaten Flamboyant Stakes winner Hashtagyolo.

This exciting young sire has nine yearlings on offer at next week’s KZN Yearling Sale.
