Weekend treble for Ideal World

9th Oct 2017

Mauritzfontein’s in-form sire Ideal World enjoyed a good weekend with a trio of winners to his credit.
The stakes winning son of Kingmambo and Breeders’ Cup champion Banks Hill had a double at Greyville on Friday and his son Reminiscence broke his maiden at Turffontein the following day to give Ideal World three for the weekend just past.

Smart Call

First of the Ideal World winners to score was the strapping Haddington, who made it two wins from his last three outings when scoring for in-form trainer Louis Goosen. Very closely related to Smart Call (and bred on the same Ideal World/Horse Chestnut cross as Smart Call), the Mauritzfontein bred gelding did well to overcome the widest draw of all to get up and win his third race by half a length.

Out of the Horse Chestnut mare Crown Office, Haddington was a R210 000 purchase from the 2014 National 2YO Sale.

The Ideal World double came when the Paul Gadsby trained Ataturk followed up in the race immediately after Haddington to post his second win from his last three outings.  Bred by the Riethuiskraal Stud, and out of the Fort Wood mare Woodridge, Ataturk was a bargain R60 000 buy from the 2016 Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale.

A well established stallion, Ideal World’s most notable performers include such Equus Champions as Smart Call and Hermoso Mundo, while his son Kimberley Star was named Champion 2YO Colt of the Eastern Cape last season.

Hermoso Mundo

Ideal World, also sire of promising 3yo Zen Arcade –a winner of two of his three outings, is the sire of Cape Speed and Mangrove, both of whom have been entered for the upcoming Listed Woolavington Handicap.

Out of a full sister to champion sire Dansili, Ideal World has five lots on offer at the Ready To Run Sale in November, including a filly from the family of G1 winners Lord Shirldor and Colonial Girl (Lot 1) and  a filly from the same family as recent Spring Champion Stakes winner Ace High (Lot 130).
