Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s successful resident sire Oratorio enjoyed a memorable weekend this past week, with the former European champion represented by a treble of winners.
The son of Danehill had winners at three different racetracks over the weekend, with his son Tyrandeus kick starting the Oratorio winner fest. Bred by Drakenstein Stud, the 3yo gelding made a winning Fairview debut when outkicking Xanthus to win by a neck in convincing style. Trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, Tyrandeus was a R346 500 buy from the 2016 National Yearling Sale.
Oratorio also had a pair of impressive winners at Kenilworth and Turffontein respectively on Sunday.
His consistent daughter Tally-Ho broke her maiden impressively for trainer Michael Robinson when storming home to score over 1400m at Kenilworth, while another Oratorio filly, Regal Graduation, won for trainer Johan Janse Van Vuuren at Turffontein.
Tally-Ho, bred by her part-owner Team Valor International, has now won or placed in each of her last four outings. Her paternal half-sister, the 3yo Regal Graduation, stamped herself a smart filly when making it back to back wins at Turffontein. Regal Graduation stormed home to win impressively over 1160m and she has now won or placed in each of her four outings.
A dual Champion Sire in Italy, triple G1 winner Oratorio looks to have an exciting crop of two-year-olds representing him this season. Oratorio sired juveniles this season include the promising Van Halen, who ran a smart second over 1000m at Turffontein on Saturday, and the very impressive filly Carlita. The latter won on debut by over eight lengths before running second to blue blooded Australian colt Traces in the Listed Tattersalls Summer Juvenile Stakes at her only other outing.
To date, Oratorio has been represented by 49 individual stakes winners, including seven individual G1 winners.
His high class son Fencing Master is currently standing at the Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud.
