Weekend treble for Querari

18th Dec 2017

Maine Chance Farms’ red hot sire Querari had a memorable treble over the weekend to add further to his rich vein of success.
The son of Oasis Dream is responsible for lightly raced 3yo Iron Wolf, who made it back to back wins when scoring over 1600m at Greyville on Friday night for trainer Dennis Bosch and breeders Guillaume Stud.

Monks Hood

Iron Wolf, who was making a winning polytrack debut, has now won or placed in three of his four starts and looks capable of building on his latest good effort.

Rite Of Spring became the 26th winner to have emerged from Querari’s current crop of 3yos when she broke her maiden by over two lengths for trainer Clinton Binda.
The well bred filly, bred by Maine Chance Farms, was third last time out and clearly relished the step up to 2400 metres.

Rite Of Spring is from the same crop as Querari’s graded stakes winning sons Monks Hood and Wonderwall as well as Listed Dahlia Plate winner Joking.

Querari’s third winner on the weekend came in the form of the Duncan Howells trained Gingerbread Man, who made it win number five when victorious over 1750m at Scottsville on Sunday, beating another son of Querari, Warfarer, into second. The four-year-old gelding was a R220 000 buy from the 2015 National Sale.

(Both Rite Of Spring and Gingerbread Man are out of mares by Fort Wood).

A half-brother to group/graded winners Quidura and new sire Quasillo, Querari has been represented by at least one graded stakes winner in each of his first three crops to race. He shares his broodmare sire Acatenango with Kentucky Derby/Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom, the fifth leading first crop sire by prize money in the USA this year.

Querari has 13 yearlings on offer at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
