Robberg Express, trained by Johan Janse Van Vuuren and ridden by Frikkie Greyling, romped home first time out to score an emphatic two length win, going away, over 1000m.
The colt, who was produced by the Model Man mare Model K, is the seventh two-year-old winner for What A Winter this season.
Others include the highly rated Russet Air, Kuda Sprint hero Agent Of Fortune, feature race contender Fabian and debut winner Vertical Descent.
What A Winter is also the sire of hugely exciting 2yo Clouds Unfold, a winner of two of her three starts, and who holds entries in both the G3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery and Listed Kenilworth Fillies Nursery.
South Africa’s Champion First Crop Sire of 2016-2017, What A Winter is also responsible for recent G1 South African Fillies Sprint runner up Magical Wonderland.
A son of the sprint champion, Warrior’s Rest, will face the starter in Saturday’s G1 Daily News 2000, What A Winter made a superb with his first crop producing the likes of Magical Wonderland, Fort Winter and R3 million plus earner Dutch Philip.
The four time G1 winner, who hails from the same female line as Sir Tristram, has six lots on the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale.
