Drakenstein Stud’s inform stallion What A Winter came up with another good looking winner when the stallion’s three-year-old daughter Lushozi Shoop made a winning debut at Turffontein on Thursday afternoon.
Trained by Mike de Kock, Lushozi Shoop was always up with the pace in Thursday’s www.tab4racing.com Maiden Plate (1160m).
Under Keagan De Melo, the What A Winter filly kept finding more in the closing stages to win on debut by two lengths from Look To The Stars.
The winner finished five lengths clear of third place finisher Silk Garden.
Bred by Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud, Lushozi Shoop is out of the Lecture mare Leylani, making her a a full sister to the What A Winter sired Celestial Love.
The latter won five times, for earnings of more than R440 000, with Celestial Love triumphant in both the G2 4Racing Camellia Stakes and G3 WSB Man O’War Sprint.
What A Winter is no stranger to siring high-class fillies with his daughters also including dual G1 Majorca Stakes heroine Clouds Unfold, and fellow graded stakes winners Humdinger, Magical Wonderland, Winter Smoke and recent G3 Three Troikas Stakes victress Miss Cool.
South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2019-2020, What A Winter is currently third on the General Sires List for 2022-2023.
