William Longsword sister off the mark

29th Jun 2020
Regally bred two-year-old Really Royal, a full-sister to Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young sire William Longsword, stamped herself as a filly with a very bright future when she made a winning debut at Kenilworth on Monday afternoon.

Trained by Justin Snaith, the Klawervlei Stud bred Really Royal ran on strongly under Richard Fourie to win first time out by just under half a length, while scoring over 1200 metres.
A R4 000 000 yearling buy, the beautifully bred Really Royal is the fifth winner produced by the winning Fort Wood mare PAGAN PRINCESS.
The latter is already the dam of three stakes winners (by three different stallions) namely G1 Cape Guineas winning sire William Longsword, G1 SA Fillies Sprint heroine Real Princess and Wolf Power 1600 hero Silver God.
From the same family as Sunday’s Devon Air Stakes winner Caralluma, William Longsword was a superb racehorse whose six wins, from just eight starts, included both the G1 Cape Guineas and The CTS 1600.
One of the very best sons of deceased champion sire (and fellow Cape Guineas winner) Captain Al, William Longsword has 11 members of his first crop on offer at the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
