13th Feb 2020

Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young stallion William Longsword gained yet a further boost to his pedigree when his half-brother Silver God won the Listed Wolf Power 1600 (1600m) at Turffontein on Wednesday evening.

The Sean Tarry trained Silver God claimed the first feature race of his career when staying on to post a three-parts of a length win in Wednesday’s R150 000 Wolf Power 1600. Bred by Klawervlei Stud the gelded son of Silvano has now won five times for earnings just shy of R400 000.

Silver God is the third stakes winner produced by his dam Pagan Princess with the latter also dam not only of William Longsword but also of G1 South African Fillies Sprint winner Real Princess.

William Longsword, who shares his champion sire Captain Al with both recent G1 Sun Met victor One World and prominent young sire Captain Of All, was a brilliant racehorse  whose six wins, from just eight starts, included both the 2016 G1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas and 2017 CTS Mile.

The handsome bay has made a sterling start to his stud career, with yearlings from William Longsword’s first crop making up to R600 000 at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

William Longsword has a single lot on offer at the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale –a filly (Lot 56) out of a mare who won three times up to 1600 metres.
