Wonderful weekend for Dynasty

21st Aug 2017

Dynasty, recently named Equus Outstanding Stallion for 2016-2017, appears on track for another cracking season in 2017-2018.
The champion son of Fort Wood enjoyed a notable treble of winners on local tracks this weekend, with Dynasty’s trio of winners including a very impressive debut winner in the form of Sir David Baird.

Bred by the Cheveley Stud, 3yo Sir David Baird romped to a 2.25 length win at Turffontein over 1200m last Saturday.
The Mike de Kock trained gelding was a R1.3 million buy from the 2016 National Yearling Sale.

Sir David Baird is one of a number of outstanding 3yo prospects representing Dynasty this season, with others including Equus Champion 2YO Filly Lady In Black, brilliant debut winner Noble Secret, and G1 Premiers Champion Stakes winner Eyes Wide Open.

Another 3yo by Dynasty to make a winning debut at Turffontein on Saturday was the John and Liz Slade bred Greek Fire, who scored by an emphatic five and a half length win over 1450 metres. A half-brother to Gold Cup winner Wavin’ Flag, Greek Fire was a R3 000 000 buy from the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

Dynasty’s third winner on the weekend came when daughter Russet Roses maintained her unbeaten record on polytrack when successful over 2000m at Greyville on Sunday.

Trained by Dennis Drier (also the conditioner of Lady In Black), the Highlands Stud bred Russet Roses was a R250 000 purchase from the 2015 Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale.
