Ascot Stud’s multiple graded stakes winning sire Global View enjoyed feature race success on Sunday when his son River Power won the Zimbabwe Guineas at Borrowdale Park.
Trained by Debra Swanson, the three-year-old was ridden to victory by Deryl Daniels.
Lightly raced, River Power made it four wins from five starts with his Zimbabwe Guineas triumph.
The colt was bred by Riethuiskraal Stud.
River Power, who was out of the Ideal World mare Shirley Valentine, was a R140 000 purchase from the 2023 August Two Year Old Sale.
The 2025 Zimbabwe Guineas winner is bred on the same Global View/Ideal World cross as Castle Tankard hero Ideal View.
By the same sire as Frankel, Teofilo, Nathaniel and Gleneagles, Global View was South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2019-2020.
His progeny include South Africa’s reigning Horse Of The Year Dave The King, East Cape stars Global Drummer and Fairy Knight, and G3 Track And Ball Derby winner Decorated.
