Mambo relative shines at Keeneland
Moutonshoek’s exciting young sire Mambo In Seattle’s relatives have been in the spotlight recently.
During the 2013 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, Mambo In Seattle’s full sister, Sky Beam, was knocked down for $900 000.
In foal to leading sire Bernardini, Sky Beam is a proven producer. Her winners include the top-class performer Sky Kingdom – winner of the Gr3 Tokyo City Cup and third in the Gr1 Hollywood Gold Cup.

Sky Beam and Mambo In Seattle (both by world leading sire Kingmambo) are out of the high-class racemare Weekend In Seattle. The latter ran third in the Gr1 Coaching Club Oaks, and is a full-sister to the great US sire, A.P. Indy.

A.P. Indy’s influence has been widely felt in some of America’s top races during 2013. His male line descendants have won such races as the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, Alabama Stakes, Frontrunner Stakes, and Jockey Club Gold Cup.

Mambo In Seattle’s second dam Weekend Surprise was North America’s Broodmare Of The Year in 1992. Not only did the daughter of Secretariat produce Horse of the Year and leading sire A.P. Indy, but she is also the dam of highly successful sires Summer Squall, Honor Grades, and Tiger Ridge.

Runner up in the 2008 Gr1 Travers Stakes, the stakes winning Mambo In Seattle’s first crop race this season.
His first crop of juveniles include a filly out of a half-sister to dual Horse of the Year Variety Club, a colt out of the stakes winning Goldkeeper mare Mat Gold, and a half-brother to Fillies Nursery winner, Wheredowego.

Mambo’s first yearlings also proved popular in the ring, fetching up to R400 000 in 2013.

Mambo In Seattle stands the 2013 season for a fee of R25 000.
