Master Of My Fate retired to Varsfontein
The magnificent Master Of My Fate has been retired to stud. He will stand at Varsfontein Stud in Paarl for the up-coming breeding season.
Master Of My Fate (who was bred by Varsfontein) is an eye catching and correct individual, who was the top priced colt of his generation.
He cost R3 000 000 at the 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, making Master Of My Fate the second top priced yearling sold off the National Sale that year.
The handsome bay was a top-class racehorse, who won six of his eight outings – with his sole loss coming in the 2014 Gr1 J&B Met, where Master Of My Fate was cut into 3 times.
He won six races in a row, with his wins including a pair of feature race successes.
His graded wins included a defeat of 2014 J&B Met winner Hill Fifty Four in the Gr2 Premier Trophy, and he followed that victory up with a comprehensive success in the Gr2 Peninsula Handicap, where Master Of My Fate once again accounted for Hill Fifty Four.
He won from 1200m to 1800m, and won his six races by an aggregate of over 12 lengths.
Master Of My Fate has the pedigree to match his impressive physique and near flawless race record.
He is one of over 60 stakes winners for six times champion sire Jet Master (who is currently leading the SA general sires log). Jet Master’s 20 Grade One winners include Triple Horse Of The Year Pocket Power, and other champions Mythical Flight, J J The Jet Plane and Past Master as well as such outstanding performers as River Jetez, Ebony Flyer, Thunder Dance, Floatyourboat and Pomodoro.
Jet Master’s current stars include this season’s Gr1 Avontuur Estate Cape Fillies Guineas heroine In The Fast Lane, and multiple Gr1 winner Yorker – a leading fancy for the 2014 Vodacom Durban July.
Master Of My Fate comes from an equally distinguished female line. He is a half-brother to the stakes winning filly Justthewayyouare, as well as a Captain Al colt (Captain Nemo) who sold for R2.4 million at the 2014 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
Varsfontein’s newest sire recruit is also a half-brother to Need to Know, a multiple winner in Dubai.
Master Of My Fate is out of Equus Champion Promisefrommyheart – whose six wins included the Gr1 SA Fillies Guineas, Gr1 Triple Tiara 1600m and Gr2 Woolavington Stakes.
Promisefrommyheart is out of the top-class stakes winner Secret Pact, who is also dam of Gr1 Majorca Stakes victress Covenant as well as the Gr1 filly Secret Heart.
The latter made history when becoming the first SA bred mare ever to produce a winner of the Breeders Cup (her son Pluck won the Gr2 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf in
Master Of My Fate’s third dam is Broodmare Of The Year Soho Secret, whose descendants include champions London News and Kings Gambit.
Master Of My Fate is a horse who had it all – looks, race record and a superb pedigree. He is an extremely exciting addition to the ranks of the South African stallion band.
