More success for Duke Of Marmalade filly
Drakenstein Stud’s new sire, Duke Of Marmalade, is the sire of Sunday’s Group 3 Munster Oaks (formerly Noblesse Stakes) heroine Venus De Milo.
Trained by Aidan O’Brien (who also handled the filly’s sire), Venus De Milo ran out a convincing winner of the 2400m event, and looks a good prospect for further group race success in 2014.

Venus De Milo, who was produced by the Galileo mare Inchmahome), has now won four of her eight starts, with her previous wins including last year’s Group 3 Give Thanks Stakes. She was also second in both the Group 1 Irish Oaks and Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks last season.

The 4yo is likely step up in class to Group 1 company following her latest success. She is one of 15 black type performers for Duke Of Marmalade in 2014.

Duke Of Marmalade, whose local runners include the well above runners Marmalade Tycoon, Moofeed and Raaees, is set to stand his first South African season later this year, and will stand for a first year fee of R100 000.
