Oratorio filly lines up in Royal Ascot Group One
Avontuur’s red hot sire Oratorio is set to have a leading contender in one of Royal Ascot’s greatest races – Friday’s Gp1 Coronation Stakes. A race for 3yo fillies only, this 1600m showpiece consistently attracts the very best fillies of their respective generations.
Past winners include such champions as Pretty Polly, One In A Million, Katies, Al Bahathri, Sonic Lady, Milligram and Kooyonga, to name a few.
Among the 17 runners for this year’s contest are two Guineas winners (Sky Lantern and Just The Judge), as well as the pattern race winners Big Break, Kenhope, Maureen, Ollie Olga, Purr Along, and Rehn’s Nest.
Oratorio’s representative comes in the form of the lightly raced, but well performed, Viztoria. The filly, who will be partnered by red hot Johnny Murtagh (who broke South African hearts when beating Shea Shea earlier in the week), has won three of her four starts.
A strong fancy for the Irish 1000 Guineas a few weeks ago, Viztoria was scratched from that Irish classic, and is thus due to make her Group One debut here.
Her three victories, to date, include two features, with her most recent score coming in the Group 3 Athasi Stakes.
