Oratorio filly ready to take on the world!
Clenor, a daughter of Avontuur’s world class young stallion Oratorio, is one of 14 juvenile fillies set to compete in Friday’s $1 000 000 Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies. This Grade One feature is one of five Breeders Cup races set to take place at Santa Anita this Friday evening.
Unfortunately, the Doug O’Neill filly, priced up originally at 8-1, has a poor draw of ten in the 1600m contest.
Unbeaten in three starts in North America, Clenor (described by Brisnet as their second choice for the race), has won stakes races in her last two outings, culminating in a gutsy win in the Surfer Girl Stakes. The latter race was held over the same course as today’s Breeders Cup contest.
Her sire, Oratorio, has enjoyed a sensational year in 2013. He has been represented by 19 stakes winners globally this year, including Hong Kong Horse Of The Year Military Attack and sensational Italian 3yo, Biz The Nurse.
Fully booked in his first local season, Oratorio’s first SA book of mares include the Grade One winning mares River Jetez, Sarabande and Bambina Stripes, as well as State Coach (dam of the top-class Silvano’s Jet).
He stands for a 2013 fee of R80 000.
