Oratorio’s Super Sunday

Oratorio’s Super Sunday
Avontuur’s new stallion Oratorio’s progeny continue to shine world-wide. The son of Danehill had a remarkable big race double on Sunday in Singapore and Italy respectively, when his sons, Military Attack and Biz The Nurse, won the Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup and Gp2 Derby Italiano respectively.

In winning the $3 000 000 Singapore Cup, Military Attack took his record to 10 wins from 22 outings . He has now won four times in a row, and has picked up two of the world’s greatest racing prizes – the Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup and Singapore Airlines International Cup.

He will now be aimed at another great race – Australia’s great WFA prize, the G1 Cox Plate. The Cox Plate, which is due to be run in October, has been won by such legends as Maykbe Diva, Phar Lap, Sunline, So You Think and Strawberry Road.
To date, Military Attack has earned over GBP 2 500 000 – the equivalent of over R35 000 000!

Remarkably, Oratorio’s offspring have won 17 stakes races this year alone. His offspring have won stakes in 2013 in all of Britain, Dubai, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Singapore and South Africa – which makes him a true global success.

Oratorio is now responsible for 32 stakes winners, and, following Biz The Nurse’s Derby triumph, has been represented by classic winners in both 2012 and 2013.

In 2012, Oratorio filly, Cherry Collect, landed a memorable classic double when taking out both the Italian Oaks and 1000 Guineas.

His daughter, Viztoria, is a leading contender in Sunday’s Gp1 Irish 1000 Guineas.
Another exciting Oratorio filly, Orator’s Daughter, has been entered in the Gr1 Woolavington Stakes, which will be held at Greyville on June 1st.

Oratorio has a terrific record locally with his progeny. From just 11 runners, nine Oratorio’s have won, and five (nearly 50%) are black type performers.

All in all, Oratorio’s arrival means that Ireland’s loss is South Africa’s very fortuitous gain!
