OUTSTANDING PROSPECTS ON OFFER AT CPYS
The third renewal of the Cape Premier Yearling Sale (Book One) will offer some exceptionally well bred youngsters.
The two day sale, which is set to take place at the Cape Town International Conventional Centre on 24th and 25th of January, has put together a catalogue of 234 lots.
Trading begins each day at 17:00 pm, and 117 lots have been catalogued for the first session.
Many of the Cape’s top stud farms are represented, and all of South Africa’s leading sires have offspring on sale.
Stallions with yearlings on the 2013 CPYS include Captain Al, Dynasty, Fort Wood, Kahal, Silvano, Trippi, Var and Western Winter.
The sale also offers buyers the rare opportunity to purchase yearlings from the final crop sired by the legendary stallion, Jet Master.
The latter has eight yearlings catalogued, including a colt out of the G1 winner Nania, and a full sister to the G1 placed Sport’s Coach (whose dam is G1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner, Sport’s Chestnut).
There are also a number of promising young sires represented by their first crop of yearlings. Among these are Elusive Fort, King’s Apostle, Lateral, Mambo In Seattle, Oracy and Seventh Rock.
Other smart looking young sires with stock on sale this year, whose first crop race this year, include Antonius Pius, Argonaut, Horse Chestnut, Jay Peg, Judpot, Rebel King and Royal Air Force.
The 2013 CPYS will also feature yearlings by such world leading stallions as Danehill Dancer, Pure Prize and Tapit, as well as a yearling from the first crop of world-class globetrotter, Archipenko.
However, the sale does not just showcase some of the country’s best stallions. There are also six yearlings on sale who count a G1 winner as their dam. The likes of Dancer’s Daughter, Sport’s Chestnut, Nania, Lyrical Linda, Soft Landing and Fading Light are all represented at the 2013 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
There also siblings to such high-class performers as Ancestral Fore, August Rush, Divine Jury, Franny, Jay Peg, Mother Russia, Potala Palace, Russian Sage, Soft Falling Rain, Sweet Sanette, Val de Ra and many more on sale.
Clearly the Cape Premier Yearling Sale looks to have a strong and exciting collection of yearlings on offer. The catalogue is online at www.capethoroughbredsales.co.za
