Drakenstein Stud stallions have been enjoying plenty of success lately, both in South Africa and overseas.
Philanthropist was the latest Drakenstein based boy to make the news, when his champion son, Phil’s Dream, won Saturday’s Ontario Jockey Club Stakes at Woodbine. It was a fifth stakes winner for the champion, who was winning the race for a second year in a row.
Last year’s Champion Sprinter in Canada, and winner of the Gr1 Nearctic Stakes, Phil’s Dream has now won 10 of his 17 outings, and has earned over $700,000.

Philanthropist (Kris S – Hidden Reserve) had his first South African foals born this season – and they have attracted rave reviews.
From the great Grey Flight family, Philanthropist’s relatives include legendary SA sire National Assembly – who left behind no fewer than 16 local Gr1 winners.

A half-brother to the 2014 Gr3 Canadian Turf Stakes winner Reload, Philanthropist has a 2014 stud fee of R80 000.
